Hello! My name is Melanie. In May 2024, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as a double major in English-Creative Writing and Professional Writing. After graduation, my husband and I moved down to Nashville, Tennessee and adopted a goofy lab mix named Pumper. We love taking him to the lake. I spend most of my spare time reading in the sun– my favorite writers being modernist authors such as Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck and present-day authors such as Lorrie Moore. In my own fiction writing, I seek to imitate these author’s thematic and narrative eloquence while applying personal dissonance revolving around societal expectations, corporate culture, and relational strife. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my work! I hope the experience lived vicariously through the characters provided insight into the internal or external qualities of your own existence; something I seek to constantly improve in order to write for myself with my readers’ relatability in mind.
